Jonas Olsson has hit back at the West Brom fans who abused him after the 0-0 draw at Coventry.

Defender unhappy with 'disrespect' from supporters

West Brom defender Jonas Olsson has hit back at a section of Baggies fans who abused him in the wake of the 0-0 draw at Coventry. Olsson was rarely troubled during the stalemate at the Ricoh Arena but became the subject of some supporters' anger at the final whistle. The Swedish defender had gone over to the travelling fans to show his appreciation but did not receive a favourable response. Roberto di Matteo's men have won just one of their last six matches to slip to third in the table, although they are only two points adrift of leaders Newcastle.

Disrespect

Olsson said: "I understand the fans are disappointed but we are thankful to have so many who travel to support us so I wanted to applaud them for their good effort. "They don't have to applaud me back, but a couple of people made gestures that I thought showed disrespect. "I was emotional at the end because of the result, but it was nothing. "We've had two games in a row which we maybe would have won at the start of the season. But thankfully for us it is a long season and we will have important players coming back, so I think that will help us a lot."
