Grimsby captain signs on loan at London Road

Peterborough have signed Grimsby defender Ryan Bennett on loan until January with a view to a permanent move. The 19-year-old centre-half is set to sign at London Road, subject to Football League clearance, after making nearly 100 appearances for the League Two Mariners. Bennett, who was the skipper at Blundell Park, has also represented England at U18 level and Posh manager Darren Ferguson is pleased with the signing. "Ryan is an excellent signing for us," he told the club's official website. "He has plenty of potential and fits in with our policy of bringing good, young players to the football club." Bennett was the subject of two transfer bids from Peterborough during the summer, and he could go straight into the squad to face Scunthorpe on Saturday.
