Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has signed a new contract with Preston which runs through to 2013.
Lonergan's existing contract was set to expire at the end of the season but he has agreed a new three-and-a-half year deal at Deepdale.
The local lad, who turns 26 next week, made his debut as a 16-year-old away to Coventry back in October 2000.
He has gone on to make 162 appearances for his hometown club, having brief loan spells at Darlington, Wycombe and Swindon before establishing himself as the Lilywhites' first-choice keeper.
Lonergan can now focus on keeping Preston in the Championship play-off places having cleared up his future.
"It's been in the pipeline a while," he told the club's
official website.
"My contract was due to run out at the end of the season and this was something that the club and myself were keen to do.
Quick negotiations
"We went into negotiations last week and it is all done now, which is pretty quick.
"With not having long left on your contract, you start to wonder what might happen but there was never any thought of leaving.
"With a free transfer at the end of the season you become appealing to a lot of clubs but for me it was always about staying here and wanting to get this done as soon as possible."
