Striker misses crucial up-coming World Cup qualifiers

Striker Diego Milito is out of Argentina's crucial up-coming World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Uruguay. He will miss the clashes against Peru on Saturday and Uruguay next Wednesday after suffering a muscle strain in his right thigh during Inter Milan's last-gasp weekend win over Udinese. Milito, who joined Inter from Genoa this summer and is the Nerazzurri's top scorer with five goals, could be sidelined for at least a month. His absence is a big blow for Diego Maradona's side who go into Saturday's qualifier in Buenos Aires on a run of four defeats in the last five games. This poor form means the Albiceleste currently lie in the play-off position in the South American qualification table. Confirming the injury, a statement from Inter said: "The Argentina striker has suffered a first degree strain in his right thigh. "The club's medical staff has sent the necessary documents to the Argentina Federation in view of the next World Cup qualifiers."
