Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Afonso Alves is set to leave Middlesbrough.
Skysports.com revealed earlier this week that Alves was the subject of a bid from Qatarian club Al-Ahli.
And Southgate admits that the club's record signing is nearing the end of his time at The Riverside.
"There's a good chance a deal could be done for Afonso in the next few days," said Southgate.
"A club in Qatar has put a bid in. We're not that far apart on valuation."
Boro are set to take a loss of nearly half their money on Alves who cost in the region of £13million when he arrived from Heerenveen in January 2008.
