Everton have confirmed they are in talks with Arsenal over the proposed transfer of Philippe Senderos to Goodison Park.
The Merseyside outfit claim the deal is not yet done but that negotiations are ongoing with Arsenal.
A fee of around £6million has been mooted, with any deal for Senderos likely to intensify speculation over the future of Manchester City target Joleon Lescott.
The Swiss Football Federation claimed on Tuesday morning that the Switzerland defender had agreed a move north.
Toffees chairman Bill Kenwright told the club's official website: "We have been negotiating with Arsenal for the transfer of Philippe.
"Nothing has been concluded yet but talks are on going."
Senderos spent the second half of last season on-loan at AC Milan having fallen out of favour at Emirates Stadium.
