Viduka is out of contract at the end of the season and his situation has led to speculation he could be offered a move in the New Year.
Boro boss Southgate is keen to hang on to the Australian and would not welcome any bids for the forward next month.
"If there is any interest we won't be looking to let Mark go," said Southgate.
"He enjoys his football with us and we want to keep him.
"We want him to stay here beyond next season."
Meanwhile, reports continue to link Viduka's fellow striker Massimo Maccarone with a return to Italy.
Southgate concedes he is prepared to allow Maccarone to move on in January due to his failure to secure first-team football.
Torino are monitoring the situation and could make a bid if they lose Elvis Abbruscato next month.
But Italian reports also suggest Palermo could submit an offer due to concerns over the fitness of Carvalho Amauri.
