Luca Toni expressed his delight after signing a new contract with Serie A side Hellas Verona.
The 38-year-old striker, whose previous deal expired this month, put pen to paper on a new one-year deal.
"I am thrilled to continue this great adventure with the Gialloblu," Toni said on the club's official website. "This is the right choice for me and my family.
"I give special thanks to the club president (Maurizio Setti), the club and the fans."
Italy's World Cup winner in 2006, Toni achieved another major honour in his career last month when he won the 'Capocannoniere' award - given to the top-scorer in a Serie A season - after notching 22 goals for Verona in the 2014/15 campaign.
He shared the prize with Inter Milan's Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi.
"As long as I'm feeling this way, I will keep playing football," he said. "I really can't wait to get the new season under way."
Hellas will compete for a third straight season in Italy's top flight.
