Ronald Koeman wants his Southampton side to be more clinical in front of goal when they face Stoke City in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday.

The two sides face each other just days after the Saints won a tight game 1-0 in the Premier League thanks to Sadio Mane’s first-half goal.

Southampton dominated the first half but had to survive a scare towards the end to secure three points and move into second in the Premier League table.

"We have our way of playing. The way of playing of Stoke is different," said Koeman.

“Now we know it's a tough opponent and we have to work hard. In the first half on Saturday we showed our qualities and we were the best team on the pitch.

"But if you don't score the second one and you create a lot of opportunities then you know until the last second it is 1-0 and it is very difficult."

The Dutchman has insisted he will not make wholesale changes for the game at the Brittania Stadium but is keen to rotate a few players.

"We don't have that quality to change eight or nine positions because the group is not like the big teams in England," he said.

"I don't like that because I like rotation, but not to change everybody."
