Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni has admitted that Tony Pulis’ resignation came as a 'shock' to him and his team-mates.

The 56-year-old Welshman left the London club by mutual content less than 48 hours before the start of the 2014/15 Premier League campaign.

It was reported that Pulis was frustrated with Palace chairman Steve Parish’s reluctant to sign the players he wanted in the summer transfer window.

Neil Warnock was appointed the Eagles boss last month, and although Speroni is delighted to work with the 65-year-old again, he admits that he was surprised to learn of the departure of Pulis.

“We are still adapting to the ideas of the new manager,” the 35-year-old told Goal Argentina.

“It was a shock for all the team that Tony Pulis wasn’t going to be with us anymore because the announcement came just a day before the season began.

“Regarding Neil Warnock, I have been with him in the lower divisions. I was happy when I got the news that he was coming back because I had a very good time working with him."
