Nicklas Bendtner admits he is settling into life in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg and claims his best days are yet to come.

The Denmark international joined the German side from Arsenal during the summer transfer window and has made two substitute appearances since his arrival at the Volkswagen Arena.

Bendtner found himself out of favour at Emirates Stadium and was sent on loan to Juventus, with the Serie A club given the option to sign the striker on a permanent deal.

However, Juventus declined the offer to take Bendtner on full-time as his contract expired at Arsenal and the 26-year-old was snapped up by Wolfsburg on a three-year deal.

“Now I am here and I am feeling good,” he told Kicker-Sportmagazin.

My best phase is yet to come. If I would score 28 goals for Wolfsburg I would be a happy man. Nothing is impossible but it is extremely difficult, of course.

“Wolfsburg is a new start for me. I had moved back to Arsenal after my year at Juventus. Arsenal stopped me because they did not want me to leave then.

“Playing Champions League is a future target for Wolfsburg and if you have played Champions League you know all about the thrill of it.”

Managing director Klaus Allofs claimed Bendtner is in his prime and the striker also believes he has more to offer.

Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko once netted 28 goals in a season for Wolfsburg and Bendtner is eager to emulate the feats of the Bosnia international.

“When Wolfsburg started to get interest things progressed very fast,” Bendtner recalled.

“Klaus Allofs and [manager] Dieter Hecking had their questions, I had my questions. At the end of the day we had our agreement.

“My best phase is yet to come. If I would score 28 goals for Wolfsburg I would be a happy man.

“Nothing is impossible but it is extremely difficult, of course.”
