Sky Sports understands that Everton manager Roberto Martinez was checking on long-term targets Jeremain Lens and Stefan de Vrij after visiting Holland’s World Cup training camp.
Martinez, who is undertaking media work during the finals in Brazil, took the opportunity to take a closer look at Louis van Gaal’s squad.
Everton have a long-standing interest in both Feyenoord defender de Vrij and forward Lens, who is currently with Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev.
De Vrij, who has captained Holland in a recent friendly when Robin van Persie was taken off, is very highly rated and the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked, while Italian outfit Lazio have seen bids rejected in recent weeks.
Lens joined Kiev last summer on a four-year deal, but with the ongoing political unrest, it is understood a number of clubs - one of those being Everton - are keeping a watching brief on his situation.
