Lanus centre-back anxious to leave Argentina to take on Messi

Argentina international defender Paolo Goltz is hoping to secure a move to Spanish club Real Betis this summer. The 27-year-old plays for Lanus in his homeland but is desperate to take what he fears could be his last chance to move to Europe. Betis have offered to take the centre-back on loan with a view to a permanent deal but Lanus president Nicolas Russo is holding out for a €3million (£2.4m) transfer. "It is clear that Lanus want to sell me," said Goltz. "It would be very nice to go to Europe. I am not a child. I am already 27 years old. "I am comfortable at Lanus but I think that it's the perfect moment to take an important step forward in my career. "It's a dream that I have when I think about the chance of playing against (Lionel) Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. I would play the match of my life if I can mark them."
