South Korea international returns to German football

Scottish Premier League champions Celtic have announced that Cha Du-ri has left the club and signed for German outfit Fortuna Dusseldorf. The South Korea international leaves Parkhead after almost two years in Glasgow. He was snapped up from Bundesliga side Freiburg in July 2010 after catching Neil Lennon's eye during that summer's World Cup. Cha tasted Scottish Cup success during his first season with the Hoops, and SPL title joy during his second.

Career

He has, however, taken the decision to move on and continue his career back in the country of his birth - with a side that won promotion into the top-flight last season. "Cha Du-ri has signed for Fortuna Dusseldorf after spending nigh on two years with the Hoops," read a statement on Celtic's official website. "The German-born South Korean internationalist returns to football in the land of his birth after making 44 appearances for Celtic, during which he scored twice. "Everyone at the club would like to wish Cha every success in his future career."
