Leicester see several players edging nearer to return

Leicester City striker Darius Vassell could return to action before the end of the season after returning to light training. Vassell was initially expected to miss the rest of the campaign after suffering a serious knee ligament injury in the 3-2 defeat at West Ham United in late October. However, the former England international, who scored twice in 12 appearances prior to his injury, took part in some light training last week. He was joined by several injured team-mates in the session, although assistant manager Craig Shakespeare insists Leicester will not take any risks with the players. "It was really pleasing to see Darius Vassell, Jeff Schlupp and Matt Oakley all outside training last week," said Shakespeare in the Leicester Mercury. "They didn't take part in the full training session but took part in some of the warm-up. That was really good to see. "But you have to err on the side of caution. You want to give them every opportunity to not come back for a couple of games and then miss some more, but be back for the nine or 10 games in the run-in."
