Hertha Berlin have signed Felix Bastians from Freiburg on a four and a half year deal.
The former Nottingham Forest player was due to join the Berlin club in the summer, after agreeing a deal to move when his Freiburg contract expires.
However, after the deal was announced Bastians had been prevented from training with the rest of the team and had been maintaining his fitness with Bundesliga 2 side Bochum.
Hertha's manager Michael Preetz told Dutsche Presseagentur: "We have agreed on an immediate switch. Felix Bastians will join our club immediately. It is the best solution for everyone involved.
"We are happy to add another quality left-back to the squad."
