Danish defender agrees move for next summer

FC Twente have agreed a deal to sign Denmark international Andreas Bjelland from Nordsjaelland next summer on a four-year contract. The Dutch club have been looking to bolster their central defensive options and identified Bjelland as somebody with a lot of potential for the future. It has now been confirmed that the 23-year-old will join Twente at the end of the season and he is looking forward to playing in a new league. "I am very happy with this move to FC Twente. It will be a new step in my career," Bjelland, who has won three caps for his country, told the club's official website. "I will get a chance next season at a club like FC Twente. Every week there will be big challenges.

Positions doubled

"FC Twente have followed me for a long time and the club knows what I am like as a person. This interest gave me a good feeling." Twente coach Co Adriaanse also expressed his delight at signing a player who can also operate at left-back or in midfield. "With the signing of Andreas Bjelland, FC Twente looks to the future," he said. "With Douglas, Wisgerhof and Bengtsson in central defence we have three experienced defenders and we were looking to bring in a fourth to have all positions doubled."
