Experienced defender swaps life at Samp for that at Atalanta
Serie A new boys Atalanta have snapped up Stefano Lucchini from relegated Sampdoria.
The club announced the signing of the defender on a permanent basis on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old is due to undergo a medical on Thursday before beginning training with his new team-mates that afternoon.
Lucchini leaves Sampdoria after four years, during which time he tasted the highs of European football and the lows of a basement battle.
The former Italy U21 international will help to add much-needed experience to the Atalanta ranks as they endeavour to cement their standing in the Italian top flight.
Lucchini made his bow at the highest level with Empoli, before sealing a switch to Samp in 2007.
