Billy Davies is prepared to put contract talks with his players to one side as he looks to bolster his ranks.
Having been frustrated in the January and summer transfer windows, the Nottingham Forest boss is now pinning his hopes on landing a selection of loan stars.
Those efforts are currently dominating his thoughts, leaving little time for anything else.
That means proposed discussions with Nathan Tyson, Kelvin Wilson, Robert Earnshaw and Paul Smith, who will all be out of contract at the end of the season, have had to be put on hold.
"I don't deal with contracts. But it depends what the budgets are and what impacts it might have on other signings," Davies told the
Nottingham Evening Post.
"If you look at Tyson's contract, you also have to look at other priorities. Bringing in players is the priority at the minute.
"Kelvin is the same, as are the other players who are up in the summer. That is normally a conversation you have between the summer and November or December.
"But for now, our first priority is to bring new faces into the squad, then worry about everything else after that."
Cautious
Davies has played down talk that he could be looking to bring controversial frontman Marlon King back to the City Ground, but admits he needs a handful of 'marquee' signings if Forest are to mount a promotion push.
"It is just story telling, it is just speculation," said Davies on the King talk.
"People just want to use Nottingham Forest to push deals along and to create interest.
"We will get this weekend out of the way (against Hull City) then we will have a meeting with the acquisitions committee and discuss what might be possible."
He added: "What we recommended in the summer has not really changed.
"There are a number of positions that we have to think about. My feelings in the summer were that we needed three to five marquee signings.
"Now we are looking at the loan market, I am cautious. But it is an option that we must look at."
