Argentine youngster moves to Serie A on year-long loan

Genoa have agreed a deal with Hoffenheim to sign Franco Zuculini on a one-year loan. The Argentine midfielder joined the Bundesliga side in 2009 from Racing Club, making seven appearances and scoring one goal. The 19-year-old has won one cap for his country, but is a regular at Under-21 level and regarded as a good prospect for the future. Genoa have an option to buy the player for £5.5million should he impress during his spell in Italy, while they have already paid a fee of £750,000 for his services. Despite the player's agent, Dario Decoud, stating that he only wanted to move to Napoli, the deal has now gone through due to Hoffenheim's apparent reluctance to speak with Genoa's Serie A rivals. The deal was confirmed by Hoffenheim general manager Ernst Tanner. "Hoffenheim 1899 and Genoa have agreed on terms, Franco Zuculini will be playing for Genoa until the end of next season," he said.
