Stuttgart have signed Georg Niedermeier on a permanent contract after an impressive loan spell with the club.

Defender delighted by move

Stuttgart have made their loan move for Georg Niedermeier permanent following the defender's impressive spell at the club from Bayern Munich. Niedermeier arrived at Stuttgart a year ago on an 18-month loan deal after he struggled to force his way into the Bayern team. The 23-year-old has flourished during his stint at the club and has agreed a deal with Christian Gross' side that will keep him at the Mercedes Benz Arena until 2014. The former German youth international had five months left on his loan deal before he was due to return to Munich, and he revealed he was delighted to have made the move that is believed to have cost Stuttgart in the region of £3million. Niedermeier told the club's official website: "This has been on the agenda for some time now. "I could really imagine this as I feel at home at Stuttgart and within the team already. Now I am happy to know it has taken place. "I am living in the midtown of Stuttgart and really like being here, I am spending much of my time in Stuttgart. "I am definitely missing Munich - which is my hometown - but I have found a lot of friends at Stuttgart since I came here."
