Portuguese giants beat off rivals to complete €5million signing

Porto have swooped to sign Nacional midfielder Ruben Micael for a fee believed to be around the €5million mark. The 23-year-old, who can also play in defence, has reportedly interested Arsenal and Tottenham during the past year but both Premier League clubs failed to agree a fee with Nacional. Fellow Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon were said to be the favourites to sign the former Uniao Madeira ace, with Benfica also strongly linked with a January move, but Porto have acted quickly to sign the ex-Portugal Under-21 international. Micael has signed a contract until June 2014 with Nacional receiving 20 per cent of any future sale. Despite scoring just once in the league this term, Micael has an impressive strike rate in Europe with five goals in the Europa League for Nacional.
