Walker off in Sincil Bank stalemate

Shrewsbury striker Richard Walker was sent for an early bath as his side battled to a goalless draw with Lincoln at Sincil Bank. Town played a man short for virtually the entire game after Walker was shown a red card in the third minute following a clash which saw Lincoln defender Danny Hone go to the ground clutching his face. Shrewsbury were not deterred by the loss and should have gone in front in the 15th minute when Chris Humphrey broke clear but his powerful shot brought a one-handed save out of Lincoln goalkeeper Rob Burch. Lincoln had plenty of possession but were restricted to long-range shots and they almost conceded a goal in the 27th minute when a dreadful mistake by Hone let in Grant Holt but defender Lee Beevers made a crucial tackle. On-loan Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks made two excellent saves from Stefan Oakes in the Shrewsbury goal but Lincoln struggled to create any clear-cut chances. David Graham saw two shots charged down by defenders and Ben Wright had another effort blocked before he went close again late on when his low effort brought an excellent save out of Gilks.
