Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth did nothing to ease their woes as they played out a 0-0 draw at Hillsborough.

Both sides came into the game hovering above the drop zone and they did little to ease their fans' worries as defences held sway in South Yorkshire.

The Owls were much the livelier of the two sides, although Chris Brunt and Gabriel Agbonlahor failed to make the most of openings handed to them.

Plymouth created just one chance in the opening 45 minutes, but it was the closest the game came to a goal in the first half as Nick Chadwick forced Nicky Weaver into a smart save with his legs.

The Owls showed more drive after the break, but their shortcomings in front of goal were on show again as Brunt fired wide following a slick passing move.

Paul Wotton and Akos Buzsaky shot off target for Plymouth after the break and The Pilgrims had Romain Larrieu to thank for securing a point as the keeper made a stunning save to thwart Richie Partridge.
