Real Madrid welcome city rivals Getafe to the Bernabeu hoping to finish a disappointing season on a high on Saturday.
Barcelona’s 1-0 victory at Atletico last weekend clinched their seventh La Liga crown in 10 seasons, and meant Los Blancos’ faint hopes of winning some silverware this season were over.
As a result, it is widely expected that Saturday’s Madrid derby will be Real boss Carlo Ancelotti’s final match in charge, with former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez heavily fancied to take over.
After an incredible run of 22 successive wins before the mid-season break, Ancelotti’s men looked destined to wrestle the La Liga title away from Atletico, but despite winning nine of their last ten league matches, the writing has been on the wall since their El Clasico defeat at the Nou Camp in March.
Saturday’s encounter holds little meaning for Getafe too, who are assured of their top flight status for another season.
Team news
Karim Benzema’s season is over after he suffered a torn thigh which will rule him out of Saturday’s match and France’s upcoming internationals.
Sergio Ramos is also expected to miss out, while Javier Hernandez could deputise for his final appearance of his loan spell from Manchester United.
Alvaro Vazquez is the only fresh absentee for Getafe and, with Roberto Lago out through suspension, Carlos Vigaray come in to partner Naldo at centre-back.
Ancelotti will serve the final match of a two-game touchline ban.
