Jack Whatmough: Passed fit for the clash

Team news for Saturday's League Two clash between Portsmouth and Carlisle United at Fratton Park.

Jack Whatmough has been passed fit for Portsmouth ahead of the home game against Carlisle.

The 18-year-old centre-half played for an hour for Pompey's reserves in midweek having missed the previous five matches with a hamstring injury.

Forgotten striker Tom Craddock has stepped up his training after 11 months on the sidelines with knee trouble but he is still some way from returning to action.

Defenders Danny East (groin) and Adam Webster (knee) remain sidelined along with midfielder Wes Fogden, who will not be back until the new year due to a knee injury.

Carlisle will have defender Tom Anderson available after securing his services in a loan deal with Burnley.

The 21-year-old centre-half has yet to feature for the Clarets but is match fit from a short-term spell with Lincoln in the Vanarama Conference.

Derek Asamoah is again set to start on the bench despite scoring in the last two games as a second-half substitute, with a hamstring problem restricting his fitness levels.

Striker Stephen Elliott is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon in last week's win over Oxford.
