Wolfsburg came from behind to pick up maximum points in the capital with a 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin. Goals from Robin Knoche and Daniel Caligiuri cancelled out Per Skjelbred's opener to take Dieter Hecking's Wolves above Borussia Monchengladbach and into fifth place in the Bundesliga, four points behind Schalke. Hertha missed the chance to move into the top six themselves and remained three points adrift of Gladbach after losing their second home game of 2014. Hertha flew out of the blocks, with Karim Allagui creating an early opening while Wolfsburg struggled to find their feet. The hosts took a deserved lead in the 21st minute when Allagui allowed Skjelbred to take charge of matters. His first shoot hit Patrick Ochs, but his second effort found a way past the Wolfsburg defender and goalkeeper Diego Benaglio. Kevin De Bruyne and Maximilian Arnold, arguably Wolfsburg's most creative players following the sale of Diego to Atletico Madrid, tried to get the visitors back in the game and the former set up Ivan Perisic for a shot which stung Thomas Kraft's palms. Adrian Ramos tried a speculative lob before Allagui had a shot blocked by Ochs as Hertha tried to double their lead before the break. Failure to do so left the game still finely poised going into the second half and the Wolves hit back in the 58th minute. Ricardo Rodriguez sent in a corner which was met by Knoche, who headed Wolfsburg level from six yards. Hertha were wobbling and they conceded again 20 minutes later when Caligiuri was allowed to bring the ball in from the left and arrow a shot into the top left-hand corner, beating Kraft at his near post. Hertha's answer was a header from Anis Ben-Hatira which struck the top of the crossbar from Ramos' cross, but Jos Luhukay's men were unable to find an equaliser as they were beaten for the second game in a row at the Olympiastadion.
