Action from Firhill as the new Scottish season gets underway on Friday
Partick Thistle and Dundee United ushered in a new era for Scottish football with a lively goalless draw at Firhill.
In what was the first ever competitive match in the newly formed Scottish Premiership, Partick's Scott Fox was the busier of the two keepers although, on balance, a point apiece seemed a fair result.
David Goodwillie, back with United as a loanee from Blackburn Rovers, had a sprinkling of chances throughout the contest.
With 34 minutes gone, his header was parried by Fox who also denied the striker twice more during the evening. Goodwillie fired other efforts wide of the post.
Brian Graham was another visitor to be thwarted by Fox while Thistle defender Aaron Sinclair missed the target twice in the second half.
And it was the hosts who finished the stronger with Sean Welsh heading into the hands of United keeper Radoslaw Cierzniak while John Baird struck a weak effort wide right.
Thistle enjoyed plenty of possession but lacked a cutting edge and composure in the final third.
