Hoffenheim recovered from two goals down to leave Borussia Monchengladbach still waiting for their first win of 2014 after a 2-2 draw at the Borussia Park Stadion. The Foals looked to be heading for that elusive victory as goals from Patrick Herrmann and Tony Jantschke gave them a 2-0 lead at half-time. Roberto Firmino and a Sejad Salihovic penalty denied them, however, as struggling Hoffenheim picked up a precious point away from home. Gladbach made a flying start with their quickest goal of the season, Herrmann lobbing Koen Casteels first time from the edge of the penalty area. Marc-Andre ter Stegen did well to keep out a Kevin Volland effort as Hoffenheim tried to hit straight back, but it was the hosts who found the route to goal again in the 18th minute. Raffael's corner was met by Jantschke at the far post after nobody else was able to intervene to clear the ball. Herrmann nearly made it three after half an hour when he beat Casteels again, but not Niklas Sule, who was covering to clear the ball ahead of the line. Firmino reduced the arrears in the 57th minute when Volland sent in a cross which the Brazilian touched in from close range. Sule came to Hoffenheim's rescue again with another clearance off the line, this time frustrating Christoph Kramer as Gladbach tried to restore their two-goal advantage. Raffael missed the target in a frenetic second half with chances at both ends of the field, and, when Martin Stranzl felled Fabian Johnson inside the penalty area, Hoffenheim had their chance to level. Salihovic chose both power and precision to bring Hoffenheim level in the 82nd minute, denying Gladbach victory and earning a point which kept his side seven points clear of the relegation zone.
