Dortmund show their dejection at the end of the clash

Eintracht Frankfurt extended their unbeaten start to the season to five games with a dramatic 3-3 draw against defending Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund, who lost their first game in 32 at the weekend, looked on course to bounce back when goals from Lukasz Piszczek and Marco Reus gave them a two-goal lead after 28 minutes.

Two goals in as many minutes from Stefan Aigner and Takashi Inui early in the second half brought Frankfurt level before Mario Gotze restored Dortmund's lead in the 54th minute.

Anderson then equalised again in the 73rd minute to earn Frankfurt a point and keep them in second place behind Bayern Munich at the top of the table with 13 points from their first five games back in the top flight.

Dortmund appeared to have put the disappointment of losing their first game in a year behind them as they raced ahead in Frankfurt.

Piszczek gave them the lead with a shot which too two deflections on its way past a wrong-footed Kevin Trapp in the 25th minute.

Piszczek then set up Reus to make it two just three minutes later. The Germany international side-footed his shot in from the edge of the penalty area as the defending champions took control of the game.

Gotze was brought on for Reus at half time with Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp perhaps thinking the game was already won, but two goals in as many minutes ensured that was not the case.

Aigner brought Frankfurt back into the game in the 49th minute when he shifted Inui's ball on to his left foot and sent an unstoppable volley past Roman Weidenfeller.

Inui then equalised with a stooping header at the far post from Aigner's deep cross as the Dortmund defence switched off.

Dortmund regained the lead two minutes late when Gotze cut in from the right and slid the ball under Trapp, putting his finger to his lips to silence the fans in the Waldstadion who were still celebrating the equaliser.

There was still some joy to come for the home fans, though, when Anderson brought them level again in the 73rd minute.

Bastian Okzipka delivered the cross from the right after Inui played a short corner and Anderson rose to head in from six yards with Piszczek's attempt to clear it off the line in vain.

There was some late drama to come with Neven Subotic's overhead kick cleared off the line by Pirmin Schwegler, but Frankfurt held on to their unbeaten record.
