Stevenage v Carlisle preview

Image: Roberts: Staying with Stevenage

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Stevenage and Carlisle at Broadhall Way.

Stevenage are set to be unchanged. New signing Lee Hills and fellow defender Jon Ashton are not expected to be fit in time so boss Gary Smith could name the same side which brushed aside AFC Wimbledon 3-1 in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday. Midfielder Matt Ball could be added to the squad having been on international duty with Northern Ireland's Under-21s but he will probably be on the bench at best. Boro were given a pre-match boost with the news Ashton and defensive partner Mark Roberts are staying with the club for at least the next season. The duo were targets for League One rivals Doncaster. Carlisle's summer signing Danny Cadamarteri is hoping to make his league debut for the club. The journeyman striker, a free signing following his release from Huddersfield, stepped up his bid for full fitness when he played the full 90 minutes in a reserve-team game against Middlesbrough in midweek. Fellow new signings Mike Edwards and Italian Alessio Bugno are also hoping to make their league debuts for the Cumbrians but manager Greg Abbott will be without strikers Rory Loy and Paddy Madden. Loy recently suffered a setback in his recovery from a broken leg sustained at Preston in December while Madden is working his way back from an ankle injury. Jon-Paul McGovern is not fully fit following a hernia operation and fellow midfielder Jack Lynch is recovering from a foot injury.
