Wycombe v Preston Preview

Team news ahead of Tuesday's League One clash between Wycombe and Preston North End at Adams Park.

Wycombe midfielder Gareth Ainsworth will hope to start against his former club. The 38-year-old was rested as Wanderers halted a five-game losing streak with a surprise 1-0 home victory over high-flying Sheffield United on Saturday. Ainsworth, who has had three spells with the Lilywhites during his career, will have to dislodge one of Stuart Lewis, Ben Harding, Scott Donnelly or Joel Grant if he is to start the match. Manager Gary Waddock, who celebrated his 100th game in charge of the club at the weekend, reported no fresh problems. He is able to call upon Matt Bloomfield, Marvin McCoy, Elliot Benyon, Ben Strevens and the fit-again John Halls, as well as Ainsworth, should he wish to make any changes. Preston will be without Paul Parry for their midweek tie following his sending off in Saturday's 2-1 win over Tranmere. Left-back Parry was dismissed for two bookable offences so must serve a one-game suspension. Defender Steven Smith has recovered from his troublesome calf injury and is likely to start in Parry's absence. Fellow full-back David Gray is also in contention after coming on for the final 14 minutes at the weekend which was his first league appearance since breaking his leg in March. Young goalkeeper Andreas Arestidou should retain his place in the side. He will continue in the absence of Iain Turner, who is nearing a return after suffering a foot injury against Yeovil earlier this month.
