Matt Tubbs netted a brace as Crawley continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-0 victory at home to Southend.
Southend, who had opened their League Two campaign with two victories, were outplayed in the second half and Tubbs could easily have scored a hat-trick on Tuesday night. Defender Dean Howell gave Town the lead after 56 minutes when he caught out 'keeper Glenn Morris with a shot-come-cross which sailed into the roof of the net following a pass from Tyrone Barnett. Tubbs doubled the hosts' advantage in the 68th minute, sending Morris the wrong way from the penalty spot after substitute Bilel Mohsni had brought down Barnett. Tubbs then headed the third off a post two minutes later following a cross from the left by Howell, and was unlucky not to win another penalty when tumbled over again by Frenchman Mohsni.
