    Boyd brace perfect for Posh

Peterborough's George Boyd made it a double celebration as he scored twice in a 3-0 home win against Exeter.

Boyd, who earlier this week became a father for the first time, kept Posh's promotion challenge on course with a brace and one clever assist. He needed only 10 minutes to break the deadlock with a rasping 20-yard drive that received a kind deflection off defender Richard Duffy on its way past visiting goalkeeper Ben Hamer. Peterborough could easily have doubled their lead moments later had marauding right-back Mark Little not selfishly shot across the face of goal from a tight angle despite having three players waiting for a pass. The home attack was pepped up by the introduction of Lee Tomlin, and the player who signed a new four-and-a-half year contract during the week, was only a whisker away from finding the net with his first touch. But where he failed, Boyd succeeded 16 minutes from time when he steered the ball home from close range after a great run and cut-back from Craig Mackail-Smith to register his 11th goal of the campaign. And Boyd then turned provider for top scorer Mackail-Smith - named League One Player of the Month for February - to add the final gloss three minutes from time as he rolled his 25th goal of the season past Hamer from close range.
