Ashley Grimes scored a hat-trick as bottom-of-the-table Lincoln beat Stockport 4-3 in a thriller at Edgeley Park.
Grimes opened the scoring after just five minutes with a stunning lob, which sailed over Matt Glennon and into the bottom right-hand corner of the net. The Hatters levelled when Adam Griffin stole in after Trevor Carson had parried a Greg Tansey free-kick after 25 minutes. But right on the stroke of half-time the Imps restored their lead when defender Adam Watts went up for a free-kick and headed home from close range. The match looked to be over after Grimes scored his second from close range on the hour-mark, but County came back again through David Poole, who steered home a Paul Turnbull cross. Grimes completed his hat-trick five minutes later, but the home side stubbornly refused to lie down and an own goal from Watts made it 4-3 after 73 minutes. Despite some nerve-jangling moments in the final 15 minutes, the Imps held on for three precious points.
