Barry Corr's fifth goal of the season was enough to earn Southend United a 1-0 win over managerless Lincoln City on Saturday.
Chris Sutton quit at Sincil Bank on Wednesday and first team coach Scott Lindsey took command for the trip to Roots Hall. Southend made the perfect start when the unmarked Corr headed a deep left-wing cross from Ryan Hall into the net in the third minute from six yards out. Josh O'Keefe shot over for the Imps but Southend gradually upped the pressure and Corr forced a save out of Joe Anyon with another header. The Imps upped their tempo in the second half and saw striker Ben Hutchinson head against the post from Albert Jarrett's corner, before the winger's free-kick was tipped over by Glenn Morris and Hutchinson headed wide when well placed. Both sides created opportunities but were unable to hit the target until a late Lincoln corner from Jarrett saw Moses Swaibu's header cleared off the line.
