Visitors come out on top in clash between play-off chasers

Faltering Bury suffered another setback as they were beaten 2-1 by fellow promotion hopefuls Aldershot. Scott Donnelly gave the Shots the lead against the run of play with a 30th-minute penalty and the midfielder claimed his 12th of the season 11 minutes into the second half. Shots keeper Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz was sent off after conceding an 87th-minute penalty, converted by Bury substitute Andy Bishop, but the visitors held on for their third straight win. Bury started brightly and went close through Mike Jones, Ryan Cresswell and Tom Elliott. But it was Aldershot who went ahead when Cresswell pulled down Marvin Morgan in the box, handing Donnelly the opportunity to score from the spot. Donnelly smashed a 20-yard drive into the bottom corner to put the visitors in control after the break. Bishop sidefooted home a penalty for the Shakers after Jaimez-Ruiz had brought down Dawson but Aldershot weathered the late onslaught.
