Aldershot finish game with 10 men
Greg Pearson made history with Burton's first Football League hat-trick as Paul Peschisolido's team thrashed promotion-hopefuls Aldershot 6-1.
A tight battle looked on the cards but the floodgates were opened when Pearson drilled home a penalty after Chris Blackburn handled after half an hour.
The striker was on target again with a clinical left-footed finish from 12 yards in the 39th minute, before loan signing Steve Kabba opened his Burton account four minutes later.
The irrepressible Pearson completed his hat-trick in the first minute of added time in the first half when he nodded home from close range after Tony Jones had go his head to a Keith Gilroy corner kick.
Aldershot pulled a goal back when substitute John Grant headed home a Ben Herd cross in the 67th minute, but there was still more misery in store for the visitors.
Kabba scored his second from Keith Gilroy's cross in the 72nd minute and the Shots were reduced to 10 men when skipper Anthony Charles was red carded for a professional foul five minutes later.
The Shots were ripped apart again in the 85th minute as substitute Shaun Harrad made it 6-1 from close range to give Burton their biggest win since promotion to League Two.
