    Rovers triumph against Huddersfield

Jeff Hughes netted a late penalty to give Bristol Rovers a 1-0 win over Huddersfield in a full-blooded scrap at the Memorial Ground. The midfielder coolly slotted home a left-footed spot-kick in the 83rd minute after Huddersfield defender Andy Butler had been penalised for handball. Darryl Duffy had missed a 16th-minute penalty for Rovers as his tame effort was easily saved by Alex Smithies, who had brought down Chris Lines. Huddersfield played their part in an entertaining game of few clear-cut chances, but lacked the penetration to trouble a well-drilled Rovers defence. Their best chance came when substitute Theo Robinson broke away in the second half, but Rovers goalkeeper Fraser Forster got a vital touch as his opponent tried to go around him. For Rovers, Byron Anthony had a header cleared off the line and the lively Jo Kuffour forced a good first-half save from Smithies as Rovers' good start continued. The Terriers tasted defeat for the first time this season.
