Greg Halford could make his Charlton debut in Friday night's derby with Palace at the Valley.

Halford poised for debut, and Danns could start for first time

Greg Halford could make his Charlton Atletic debut in Friday night's derby with Crystal Palace at the Valley. The Addicks have signed Halford on loan from Sunderland and he could come in for Yassin Moutaouakil at right-back. But fellow loan signing Lee Cook is not yet at full fitness, so the Fulham winger could wait a week for his debut. Zheng Zhi faces a race against time to get back from international duty with China, so Jose Semedo stands by to come in, with Jerome Thomas ill. Ben Thatcher (knee) is back in training, but needs a reserve game, while Sam Sodje (hand), Chris Dickson (knee), Cory Gibbs (foot) and Svetoslav Todorov (cruciate) are all on the sick list.

Palace news

Palace manager Neil Warnock is tipped to give new signing Neil Danns his first start for the club. The midfielder made his debut as a substitute against Southampton last week and could be rewarded with a start. Midfielders Mark Kennedy (Achilles) and Paul Ifill (back) are back in training, but will be short of match fitness. Tony Craig is continuing his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery and teenage midfielder John Bostock is on international duty with England Under 17s.
