Injury concerns for Brewers, duo fit for United

Burton have a handful of injury doubts as they prepare to get their League Two campaign under way at home to Oxford. Summer signing and newly-appointed captain Darren Moore has been nursing an Achilles problem following last weekend's pre-season friendly against Kidderminster. Full-back Kevin Grocott (thigh), midfielder Jacques Maghoma (ankle) and striker Greg Pearson (thigh) are also carrying knocks. Nathan Stanton looks likely to make his debut at centre-half alongside Moore or Tony James, while goalkeeper Adam Legzdins, midfielders Adam Bolder Jack Dyer, Lewis Young and Garyn Preen and striker James Ellison are the other new arrivals hoping to force their way into manager Paul Peschisolido's starting XI at the Pirelli Stadium. Long-term injury victims Ryan Austin (knee), Richard Jackson and Keith Gilroy are all nearing a return.

Oxford news

Oxford duo Simon Clist and Jake Wright have been declared fit ahead of the club's first game back in the Football League. Midfielder Clist has made a full recovery from a groin operation while defender Wright has got over a back problem, however it remains to be seen whether either make the starting XI. The inclusion of Clist and Wright means manager Chris Wilder has virtually a full squad to choose from with defender Rhys Day being the only absentee as he continues his recovery from a knee problem. Wilder faces a tough decision over who he chooses in goal to start the match at the Pirelli Stadium with 2009/10 Player of the Year Ryan Clarke and summer signing Simon Eastwood battling it out for the No.1 spot. United's other 11 summer recruits including former Peterborough winger Alfie Potter, on loan Chelsea youngster Danny Philliskirk and ex-England Under-20 international Asa Hall are all available and will be hoping to make their debuts for the club.
