Nantes moved to within three points of third-placed Monaco in Ligue 1 after an emphatic 3-0 win at Bordeaux. Bordeaux entered the game on a seven-match unbeaten run, including three wins in their last four games. However, goals from Vincent Bessat, Papy Mison Djilobodji and Filip Djordjevic sealed all three points for the visitors in the Atlantic derby at the Stade Chaban-Delmas. Victory also saw them go four points clear of Reims in fourth place while Bordeaux remain in mid-table despite only suffering their first defeat since a 2-0 loss to Paris St Germain in September. The hosts went agonisingly close to opening the scoring inside 20 minutes when Lucas Orban's in-swinging cross was headed on to the post by Ludovic Obraniak and Cheick Diabate was unable to meet the rebound. Diabate went close minutes later when his powerful effort from a tight angle was kept out by the feet of Remy Riou as Bordeaux began to apply some pressure. The big Mali striker continued to cause problems for the Nantes defence and only a last-ditch Oswaldo Vizcarrondo interception prevented a certain goal after the Bordeaux number 14 had rounded Riou. The Stade Chaban-Delmas thought their team had taken a deserved lead just before the half-hour mark when the unmarked Diabate turned Obraniak's pass beyond Riou but the linesman's flag went up to deny Bordeaux's impressive frontman and the scores remained level. The hosts' failure to make their dominance pay proved costly though and Michael Der Zakarian's men took an undeserved lead four minutes before half-time. Alejandro Bedoya crossed from the right byline and the ball fell at the feet of Bessat who finished emphatically beyond Cedric Carrasso to give his team a surprising half-time lead. Bordeaux's second-half response failed to materialise and, despite Djordjevic heading a good opportunity wide of Carrasso's goal, the men in yellow managed to double their lead with an hour played. Having already scored, Bessat turned provider this time and his delivery direct from a free-kick evaded everyone before falling at the far post for Djilobodji who poked the ball home from close range. Not content with a two-goal lead though, Nantes continued to press and struck for a third time just four minutes later to stun the home crowd into silence. Jordan Veretout found space on the left and picked out Bedoya whose far-post volley was kept out by Carrasso but Djordjevic was alert and hammered home the rebound for his eighth goal of the season. Bordeaux almost grabbed a consolation when Henri Saivet's control and volley was cleared off the line by Djilobodji late on but the damage was done and Nantes headed home with all three points.
