In depth

Verdict

A horrid race for punters with many nagging doubts about the draw, the jockeys and the constitution of the horses to consider. Caribbean Blue is given the most tentative of nods although Harrison's Flyer and Uhuru Peak are sure to be popular. Caribbean Blue has a good lass aboard and unlike a number of these, has relatively few miles on the clock. Harrison's Flyer is unproven over the trip but ran solidly in a Leicester maiden and has to be given utmost respect in spite of the draw. Uhuru Peak has ability but needs a strong ride and may not be ideally suited to the terms of this competition. Megabond has dropped plenty in the handicap from her juvenile days and looks a fair price of those drawn low. Not a race for the faint-hearted or loose-walleted and Caribbean Blue is selected to give us a sporting bet in the finale.
