Verdict

Rathor bolted up at Pontefract and should make a bold bid to follow up, with Etaar and Art Modern seen as the main dangers, if there are any. Rathor had run up a sequence of seconds on his first three career starts, and had looked a shade reluctant when asked to go about his business at Epsom. However, the penny truly dropped at Pontefract 18 days ago as he was never out of the front rank before drawing right away to beat Shashana by 10 lengths. Given that improvement with positive tactics, a mark of 80 for his handicap debut does not look at all harsh, and Henry Cecil's charge will take all the beating. Etaar was also an easy winner at Chepstow, and he too improved out of all recognition at the Welsh track. Upped two pounds for his handicap bow, he can give the selection most to do. Art Modern seemed not to stay 10 furlongs at Goodwood, having earlier made a winning debut on the Lingfield Polytrack, and Infatuate might find conditions too lively, so Rathor has plenty going for him and gets a confident vote.
