In depth

Verdict

A really tough race to foretell as all the octet are open to a great deal of improvement but, Reservoir shaped with plenty of promise last time and is selected over Ganymede and On Every Street, who come here as probably the best of the rest. While it may be prudent to take notes on the late-maturing Port 'N Starboard as the Polar Falcon gelding makes his debut. Open Book also looks one to be wary of as he appeals as one that will do better in handicaps in the future. Therefore, we concentrate on Reservoir, who showed he was getting the hang of things when chasing home Mark Johnston's useful runner Never Will on his latest start. That piece of form is the best on offer at this stage and, even though he is not one to go overboard about at cramped odds, Reservoir does appeal as the likeliest winner in the absence of on-course indications. Ganymede dos not have too much to find on the official figures for the race and is the best alternative.
