In depth

Verdict

An open contest where Mister Sher may be good enough to win it for the Alners, while Glen Omen, Pangbourne and Jim Bob's Girl can all go well. The selection relishes a test of stamina and acts on a sound surface. A mark of 102 is a bit of a concern after a decent run in second last time and a subsequent 5lb rise, but he runs pretty consistenyly and may well be up to this. Glen Omen is another who was runner up here last time when tried in first time blinkers. He too has gone up 5lb since and it remains to be seen if the headgear will be as effective this time. Pangbourne was a very decent bumper horse, good enough to beat Festival fancy Tidal Bay in that sphere but he has a bit to prove after some recent soft ground defeats. This better ground may well help and if he shows his true ability then he is a force to be reckoned with. Of the remainder Jim Bob's Girl holds her form well for Alison Thorpe and can be competitive from this mark, but Mister Sher is the suggestion here.
