In depth

Verdict

Winning point-to-pointers Gentle Ranger and Herons Well both have to be respected on their rules debuts but it is hard to get away from West End Rocker and he is preferred. The selection disappointed at Newbury in January but has run well since then over this trip and a reproduction of that effort should suffice for Alan King's gelding. Notabotheronme has not progressed as much as may have been anticipated and looks best watched at present, while Bold Punt is hard to weigh up after just one win in a point-to-point to his name. July Johnson disappointed on his British debut for Paul Webber and the safest option looks to be West End Rocker, who is hard to oppose.
