    Verdict

This is a really good renewal of the Yorkshire Cup with Mr Dinos, Millenary, and Alcazar the principles and we will side with John Dunlop's game 7-year-old Millenary. The selection rarely runs a bad race but was probably in need of the run when a beaten favourite at Ascot behind Risk Seeker last time. That was on soft ground and with conditions more to suit here he is taken to score. Mr Dinos is a course and distance winner who was well beaten at Longchamp last time, but he is a group one winner and he has to be respected as a live danger to them all in this contest. Alcazar showed his well-being when running out the winner of a Listed race at Nottingham last time. This is more difficult but he is still open to improvement and could go well. Maktub hails from a stable in form and has to be respected, while Highest finished second in the Coronation Cup last season so has got obvious claims. This is a quality field and should provide a fascinating race, but we will stick with Millenary as our tentative choice.
