Verdict

Despite the lack of numbers, this is quiet a competitive contest. Ettrick Waters took a long time to finally rid himself of that maiden tag and clearly appreciated having plenty of use made of him at Ayr. Whether that is the key to him, we shall have wait and see. James Fanshaw has his team in fine form and looks to have an excellent chance with Unscrupulous, whose second to Camberley at Goodwood looks good enough at this level. Just behind that day was Master Robbie, who then went on to frank that form at Warwick. Although he has been raised 3lbs for that effort, he could still prove to be well treated and is given the vote. Fort Mchenry may improve for the step up in trip, but he will need to, while Northern raider Investment Affair will appreciate a return to this trip having found seven-furlongs an insufficient test last time. Caroubier comes here in decent form and will handle the fast ground, but he is exposed and it would be a surprise if he was good enough to beat Unscrupulous on these terms.
