In depth

Verdict

Although there is a big field for the bumper, Alcris comes from a yard that always does well in this sphere, and is selected over Northaw Lad, Manhattan View, and The Grand Duke. The market invariably proves the best guide in these events and there is sure to be plenty of interest in Alcris, a son of the Champion hurdle winner Alderbrook. Northaw Lad has some experience and needed the run on his Plumpton return. He will win in time, as will Manhattan View. He is definitely one for whom the market will speak volumes. The Grand Duke comes from a stable that know how to prepare bumper winners and he too is one to follow in the future if not today. Bets should be kept to a minimum, but Alcris has the right trainer and the right breeding to warrant support in the finale.
